There is a fine line between royal elegance and pure decadence. Inspired by the allure and spirit of Marie Antoinette, this editorial at Château Martinay was imagined as a modern interpretation of French heritage—refined, expressive, and unapologetically iconic.
Located in the heart of Provence, the Château provided a grand, silent backdrop to a story that was anything but quiet. It was a celebration of bold femininity and high-fashion energy.
Capturing the Spirit of Playful Decadence
In the gilded rooms of the Château, the traditional codes of « bridal behavior » were intentionally set aside. The goal was to capture a sense of nonchalance within a prestigious setting.
From the overflow of florals on the table to the spontaneous moments where the bride claimed the space as her own, the energy was unscripted. My focus was on documenting this playful rebellion—capturing the contrast between the historic architecture and the vibrant, modern personality of the woman within it.
A Modern Royal Aesthetic
The styling for this day was a nod to the 18th century, but with a sharp, contemporary edge. Think deconstructed silhouettes, voluminous textures, and a « Coquette » spirit that felt both assertive and effortless.
Instead of stiff, formal portraits, I leaned into movement and presence. Each frame was captured with an editorial lens, focusing on the bride’s charisma as she navigated the estate. It’s about creating imagery that honors the beauty of the location while bringing a fresh, slightly irreverent perspective to bridal photography.
An Iconic Setting for a Provence Wedding
Château Martinay is a place of immense prestige, but this editorial proved it can also be a stage for modern, high-fashion storytelling.
For couples planning a destination wedding in France, this estate offers the perfect balance: the warmth of the southern countryside paired with the grandeur of a historic château. It’s a space where elegance and nature coexist, allowing for a celebration that is as much about character and fun as it is about refined luxury.
This editorial is a testament to the fact that heritage and modern personality can create something truly breathtaking. Whether you’re inspired by classic elegance or a more rebellious, fashion-forward vision, Provence offers the ultimate canvas.
If you’re planning a wedding in France and want to document it in a way that feels like you—with all the elegance and the fun—I’d love to chat.
